This is the perfect option for newer climbers looking to accelerate your climbing movement skills. Each week we look at a different climbing skill set that you can apply to different rock climbing situations. We choose a different crag each week that reflects the learning outcome. The goal is to increase your climbing "mileage" on a diversity of crag types & locations around Squamish. Each session starts with a short tutorial although coached experiential learning is key at this stage in the learning process. Before each series I consult with the group and design a program specific to the groups current skill set.

In the early years of your climbing experience, it's important to grow your repertoire of movement and problems solving. The brain & body stores different climbing movements and scenarios and then uses these stores to solve the next climbing challenge you come across.
Each month we start a series of afterwork top rope climbing sessions around Squamish. We climb from 5:30 - 9:30pm, 1 day a week for 4 weeks. Program flexibility is one of the goals, and together and before each week the group decides on an afternoon that suits everyone. One of the group members is required to arrive early each week to help me set up the climbing location. The rest of the group arrives with as little as a pair of shoes. 4 top rope climbs will be set up on arrival and the 4th rope once unused cycles to another and different climb.
Each group member should have top roped climbed previously, wether in the gym or outside and is somewhat familiar with top rope climbing belay skills, such as belaying and tying in. These skills may be refreshed or fine tunes as is required.
If you have your own please (this is not required) bring the following:
Meeting location directions will be sent to the group via email well in advance of the afternoon climbing session.

Just like other areas of our lives, we can mitigate the spread of the virus with the use of masks.
Masks are required when we are in close proximity for example an instruction situation or at a multi pitch station. Because we are not in a confined space and we have the benefit of fresh air and the great outdoors we can remove our masks once the 2m proximity rule has been passed. This means climbing without a mask although having it in close for when doing partner checks, for example, or any other close proximity situations occurs. Please see our extensive COVID risk management plan on the About page, in the main menu.
